Because this major is grounded in all of the basic disciplines, it provides a solid foundation from which to craft a personalized major. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ Job Outlook Report, over 72 percent of all businesses in the country intend to hire employees with a business degree. After graduation, you're prepared to take on a number of positions in different industries. Other general business alumni have gone on to become real estate agents, insurance and retail brokers and entrepreneurs. Through the Eastin Center, Spears Business supports our students’ professional growth from awareness, to acquisition of knowledge, to practice and feedback, and ultimately successful implementation. Our graduates accept jobs such as management trainees, entry-level positions, business owners, assistant administrators, assistant managers, and customer service representatives.
While no other type of test score is accepted in general, students who are affected by test center closures may request an exception to submit an alternate test score. The General Business major requires completion of an overall average GPA of 2.0 within the major coursework and CSU requires an overall GPA of 2.0 in order to file for graduation. General Business professionals work in many areas such as department stores, service industries, financial institutions, non-profit organizations, manufacturing firms and government agencies. Thus, students in this program will acquire the background and training necessary to manage their own businesses or to enter the corporate world in a wide variety of entry-level positions. This concentration provides an excellent foundation for further study in graduate and professional programs.
Rather than being a specialist, you will be a generalist, moderately versed in a variety of subjects within business, and to your own liking. The doors are thus wide open for careers in marketing, management, finance, or any of the other functions found in the College of Business. And if you decide to pursue further education, you will already be well grounded in all of the fundamentals, allowing you to dive in quickly and reach for even higher targets.
Emphasis is placed on understanding business concepts and their application to solving business problems. Thus, the main objective of the program is to develop future business leaders who are creative, knowledgeable, innovative, ethical, and capable of adapting to the dynamic business environment of today’s global marketplace. The program is a great foundation for a wide range of careers in sales, project management, business development, retail, government, education, human resource management, finance, accounting, information technology and much more.
Along the way you’ll be ready to enter the complex field of international trade and manufacturing. The US healthcare industry is valued at more than $8 trillion, and is growing rapidly. Our courses in these niche areas prepare students for a career in a field that will be in high demand for years to come. The Online Track provides a flexible, online business education experience which supports full-time or part-time working professionals.
